Based on Donald E. Westlake’s novel Memory, the actor finds Paul Cole (André Holland) blocked in a mysterious town without any memory of who it is or how it has arrived. Without a sense of identity or purpose, it starts from scratch and begins to court a local costume designer Edna (Gemma Chan). As pieces of his past emerge slowly, he tries to find the way home, but time is slippery, appearances cannot be trusted and it is not clear which of his identities is real.
